Cellular Companies, Think Green!
During the late spring of 2009, after seeing multiple television ads for 3G Internet from the three largest cellular carriers, I attempted to add these products to our product line.
I made various calls and searched the Internet to locate a source for product. Telephone messages and emails went unanswered. Those who made themselves available to my business plan couldn't deliver.
The plan? Airwerx travels throughout the Pacific Northwest delivering technology products that are explained on this website. High-speed Internet is one of those products that's in very high demand in metro and rural America. My thought was to have the ability to demonstrate broadband services from Sprint, Verizon Wireless and AT&T from the field. In addition to 'live' demo inventory, I also needed possession of new product inventory that could be quickly sold, activated and put into full immediate service. None of the above mentioned carriers seem to be interested.
It doesn't make sense. Why would these carriers prefer for consumers to travel, independently, from their place of residence or business to a retail store that could be one or more hours away? Furthermore, if like me, you arrive home or at your place of business only to learn that performance and speeds aren't sufficient, you're then required to commute back to the store to return it.
In all, I was required to make six round trips to aquire and test hardware from Sprint and AT&T. The additional third trip to each store was to sort out billing or hardware compatibility problems. The purchase from Verizon was handled via telephone and FedEx delivered and later returned to ship the hardware back.
What a total waste of time, fuel and added air pollution from my petroleum powered service truck.
With this reality in mind, What if you're a consumer interested in these products. You have no idea of which product will perform or, provide the greatest speeds from your particular location. During our testing, I could travel as little as 500 feet and go from blazing fast speeds to nothing. This technology is that hit and miss, even in metropolitian areas.
Using my proposed plan, that was rejected by Sprint and Verizon Wireless (I'm still attempting to get an answer from AT&T), I travel to you, we run tests with those carriers that agree with this plan and you see first hand, from your location, which carriers service will best serve your needs.
It's pretty simple. The consumer (that's you folks) has all the facts to make an informed purchase. No surprises, no waste of your time or money. This plan places your best interests first. What a novel idea? Too bad these corporations don't have the intellect to get it.
